Roseau, Dominica - December 09, 2011... I am pleased to announce, on behalf of His Excellency the President Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool, Mrs. Verna Liverpool and the President’s Charities Foundation, the Annual Christmas Children’s Party under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool and Mrs. Verna Liverpool. It will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School in Portsmouth, from 1:30 - 5:00 pm. The party targets underprivileged children between the ages 5 and 12 years.

Consistent with His Excellency’s plan of hosting a decentralized activity which will eventually reach children throughout Dominica as the geographical locations - and consequently children who would be touched by this Christmas event - are annually alternated, two hundred and fifty (250) primary school students between the ages of 5 and 12 from the communities of Glanvillia, Portsmouth, Tan Tan, Toucarie, Savanne Paille, Cottage, Clifton and Capuchin will be entertained.

Last year, 283 children between the ages of 4 and 12 from two (2) primary schools in the catchment area from Castle Bruce to Petite Soufriere were entertained, and the year before, 239 children in the catchment area from Rosalie to Delices had their turn. In previous years the event has been held at Laplaine, Vieille Case and Wesley, among other locations.

This year’s Party, at the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School in Portsmouth, will be sponsored by the Ross University School of Medicine; the First Caribbean International Bank; the Redemption Tabernacle Pentecostal Church Incorporated based in New Jersey; Josephine Gabriel & Company Limited; Springfield Trading (1959) Limited; and Dominica Brewery & Beverages Limited.

The children will be treated to games, eats, drinks, wonderful gift surprises even as Christmas carols and hymns pervade the atmosphere. Santa Claus (or Father Christmas) will present the children with gifts. The aim of the Christmas Party is to enhance the well-being and joy of our less fortunate junior brothers and sisters especially in this Christmas Season.
